In your opinion, what is the greatest ever guitar solo? I would have to hazard a shot at mine being 'November Rain' by Guns N Roses. There is of course the 'solo' in The Eagles 'Hotel California' that I was shocked to learn (when seeing them on the stage) that it was actually two men, one on a twin neck guitar. Till then that would have been my favourite

If anybody here is familiar with Steve Via, you may be familiar with a release of his on dvd called "Alien Love Secrets". On this album he plays a song called "Tender Surrender" and this has to be one of the most acrobatic guitar accompaniments that I have ever seen to this day.

Acrobatic? You mean that he was jumping all around and doing somersaults whilst he was playing?! I might have to look that up, sounds interesting.

Pretty much any one of Brad Nowell's guitar solos from Sublime...

I've recently been listening to Alice In Chains' "Dirt" album and I think the solo for Them Bones is really good and leads into the final verse superbly:-)
I like some of Slash's melodic guitar work on the ''Use Your Illusion" albums (Estranged, Knockin' On Heavens' Door) My favourite solo of his is probably Nightrain from "Appetite For Destruction". If we were to discuss best guitar playing throughout a song, Little Wing by Hendrix is just beautiful. |
