I have just been reading up on the Theremin - it is a weird instrument that was made famous by old horror films and the Beach Boys used it in Good Vibrations.
Its electronic and you play by moving your hands (and other stuff!) about and changes the makeup of the sound - think Dr Who! Theremin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia has some more info. Anyone use, make or own anything bizzare? |

Now that is weird! I have never heard of this - which amazes me since I am obsessed with musical instruments and I also enjoy the Beach Boys and Dr WHo (in small doses, please don't get the wrong idea!) Very interesting link there - but now I am very intrigued and want to hear and see it in action! Do you know any links to video where we can witness this oddity live?!

It does sound interesting and I am all about the Dr Who, but I had to look this up to see a picture before I had any clue what you were talking about. From the picture alone on wiki it looks a little hard to get used to.

I play the mountain dulcimer or lap dulcimer as it is sometimes called because you hold it in your lap. Very easy instrument to learn, you don't even have to read music. I love it and I've been messing around making up some music too. It's so easy to play, it sort of brings the music out of you.

I can't play but I think it makes the loveliest music. Do you have a clip of yourself playing it or perhaps a recording that you could share with us? I didn't realize that you don't need to be able to read music to play the dulcimer.
