Post How To Write A Song

Here is a great site that I ran across looking for help writing songs on the internet. They have a very well put together "How-To" on song writing and even breaks it down into sections so even idiots like me can make since of it.

Check it out here : How to Write a Song - Mahalo

I'm not sure what to make of that site. I'll have to save it for future reference. I'm so hopeless with lyrics they always sound so cheesy to me. But I can create any feel or mood when it comes to the music arrangement

You could try putting chords together first and see if a melody line comes to mind on the back of them. Kurt Cobain once said that when he writes, music always comes first, then melody, then he'd just put in whatever words fit best from his lyric book/notebook.

Just messing about on an instrument is good, and whatever you come up with first (melody line, bass line, chords, guitar riff) just build a song from there, find out what best works for you;-)
