My Space: Exclusive Is Their Middle Name

Whilst some networking sites are content to offer the latest graphics and applications to their ever growing army of users, My Space have taken things one step further in the name of entertainment. The site has built up a reputation as a music portal, connecting its global network of users to a range of unsigned and big name acts. Oh, and did I mention they like the odd exclusive or two as well?

In 2009, they have already delighted fans with Lily Allen’s secret Myspace show, and the My Space School Invasions tour, which featured the band Elliot Minor, and they’ve had some album exclusives too. From the 25th May, fans could stream Scottish born Paolo Nutini’s new album ‘Sunny Side Up’ a week before it was available in the shops.

This week the My Space team are at it again, with not one, but two exclusive album streams, which are again available, a week before they hit the shops. First up is Kasabian with their third album, the interestingly titled ‘West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum’. The album is hotly anticipated and is sure to be a hit with fans on Myspace, with its electro-punk riffs, soaring vocals, and innovative melodies. Band member and main writer on the album explains its vision; “It’s the soundtrack to an imaginary movie … We wanted to make an album which takes the listener on a journey. We want to encourage people to listen to it as whole, so having the entire album available a week early for our MySpace fans is perfect”. Fans can stream the album from today at www.myspace.com/kasabian, and it hits the shops on June 8th.

The second exclusive comes from pop/disco/house act Little Boots from Blackpool.  Victoria Hesketh aka Little Boots, has already been a hit at the BBC, with appearances on Jools Holland, and support from BBC 6 Music. They will be playing at festivals across the U.K, including Gay Pride in Manchester, Bestival on the Isle of Wight, and the Underage Festival in London.
