Indie/Punk Band Redtrack Prepare For A Busy Summer!

by Lauren John. Published June 6, 2010.

When it comes to doors opening in the music world, Redtrack walked through a pretty good one in 2009, winning the Hollyoaks Music Show, and landing a record deal with Fierce Panda offshoot Fandango. Now Billy, Phil, Andy, and Mitch are preparing for a busy summer of touring, which will coincide with a single and album release as well.

To kick things off, the band will double a-side ‘Perfectly Fine Individual/Imogen’ on June 21st, followed by the album ‘Whole Towns Heart’ on August 9th. This will be the debut album from a band, whose previous releases have all been singles that have attracted interest/radio play from several BBC Radio Shows and DJ’s, and has led to a few high profile support slots in the past few years. Redtrack fans old and new are sure to enjoy the talent on display on this album, which features production duties from Pete Shelley (The Buzzcocks), and Dave M Allen who’s famed for his work with The Cure. No wonder then, that there is a few classic New/Wave punk influences on display with this album, as well as a hint of Paul Weller, Elvis Costello, and Chris Difford. If that isn’t enough to tickle your fancy, then the group also enlisted the help of Hollyoaks Music Show Mentor Hollie Jay Bowes, who guests on the track ‘Pretty Boy’.

That’s a lot of indie/punk goodness to cram into a few months, but you’ll not only have a chance to buy your Redtrack CD’s and downloads, but see the band perform live as well! There’s a single launch party planned for June 22nd at The Buffalo Bar, Upper Street, North London, which kicks off at 8pm. It costs just £5 to attend, but if you can’t make the date, then you can also catch the band at the following venues in the coming months:

•    June 10 – Barhouse, Chelmsford
•    June 17 – Blythe and Tyne Pub, Newcastle
•    June 19 – VW Festival, Newcastle
•    July 27 – Bomfest, Barnsley /
•    Aug 12 -  Album launch party @ The Borderline, London
•    Sep 10 – Peterlee Leisure Centre, Co Durham
•    Sep 11 – Ivy Live Festival, Exeter
•    Oct 9 – Oxford University

Plenty of opportunities to get an Essex Guitar Band fix, so put all these dates in your diaries now, or visit www.myspace.com/redtracktheband for more information!
